Aurora Martinez Kane

Hello! I am a fourth-year PhD student in the Department of Linguistics at the University of California, Berkeley. My research interests center around language in social context, raciolinguistics, and variation and change. I primarily work on Traditional New Mexican Spanish, the oldest living variety of Spanish in the United States, as well as its interaction with other Spanishes of the southwestern US and border region(s). Before coming to Berkeley, I received a BA with honors in linguistics from Stanford University. I am a NSF GRFP recipient.

Outside of linguistics, you can usually find me listening to music from any time in the past 100 years, eating pastries, going for a walk, or playing The Sims.
